You feed him!

I worked several years on the railroad as a maintenance worker.

There was a  crew that would carry a charcoal grill with them and each day they would designate one crew member to cook while the others worked up to dinner time.

They were right down town in Cedar Rapids IA and as usual, one of the crew broke out the grill, charcoal and meat.

He was just finishing the cook when the local Fire Marshall showed up.  He told him that there was an ordinance about open fires with in city limits. They guys probably didn't think it would apply to bbq grills, but it did, especially for that area!

The employee who with good humor thanked the Marshall for his warning and then told him that the food was ready at this point and there was plenty and invited him to some brats and burgers.

The Marshall accepted the invite and all had a good meal and conversation. The Marshall finally excused himself and thanked them for the meal as he was unsure where he wanted to eat that day. So without hesitation, the cook told him that if he makes it to the location tomorrow, they are having chops.

Again he told them about the law and thanked them!

They didn't use grill in that area again but got a chuckle out of the whole thing. Apparently the Marshall hadn't had a complaint, he was just passing by which is why the encounter was so cordial

Just a matter of time until the fire dept stops at my house. The station is down the street snd they always past my corner house. Being high up in the truck they can see over my fence. By the way it's a great Fire Dept.
