Ya, that's the downside. I only need 1 tv. We were paying $160 a month for dish network. Purchased my SB 7 for $300 on a father's day sale 2 yrs ago. $160 x 24=$3800 saved.
Makes sense. We use YoutTube TV, YouTube Premier, Netflix and Amazon prime. We are up in the mountains, so no antenna option here. Also on Starlink on a generator. So we are always connected. Cell service is crap here. If we didnt have Starlink, when the power is out we would be 100% off grid with no comms.

While we wait for the new apple streamer to come out...I bought a couple new Bose soundbars for the two main TV's. We have been using very a old Vizio surround sound system that mostly didnt do the surround much or well enough to enjoy. I bet they are 12+ years old. Should have the new ones in a week or so. removing the subwoofer and surround speakers scored me major points with my wife. She hates clutter and wires. Win/Win!

One thing I will warn about Roku is always keep your remotes mute button close.

No matter the channel the commercials are complete crap.

Most of them self serving. All of them suck.

I have learned to treat my mute button like a sword to quickly wipe out the audio when the commercials start. I have never used it as much in the past.

When I bought my Sony TV a couple years ago , I switched from an old JVC system to one of the higher end Sony sound bars . I had just bought a set of Klipsch speakers for the old system , so that was kind of painful .
Running the TV with just the sound bar was no where close to the old JVC system .
Went back to Best Buy and bought the wireless souround speakers . Better , but still not there .
Third trip back and the guy tells me I need the sub . This guy knows his stuff , he not just selling .
At this point I'm about 2k in on the bar and speakers . So he walks over and grabs the sub off the shelf .
Opens the box , tapes it back shut and puts an open box sticker on it and knocks 200 bucks off .
Then takes my receipts from the TV , sound bar and rear speakers ( all bought on different days ) returns them all , and re totals it all up as a bundle bought together . That took another 500 off .

Anyway , with all the compoments and the calibration software it sounds amazing . Stuff that comes through in UHD is insane .
So keep that in mind if just running the sound bar .
BTW . My cable internet speed was just upgraded !! Charged me another 10 bucks a month .
It's been out the last 2 of 3 days . First time for an hour . Last night at 7 pm , just now came back .
They sent me an email ,,, they're sorry .

Our old system was primarily just an old sound bar. the wireless sub and surround disconnected more than not on its own.

I gave Comcast the finger. Starlink is more reliable, costs more but work when we are on the generator. so worth it.

Yup, rumors I am reading is that the Rokus will be more costly going forwards and more add driven since they were bought by fox. I used to praise them, now I cant wait to get rid of them. Countless factory resets in the last year.

I had an old Sony Blu-Ray 6:1 wired surround sound system. It was my all in one entertainment system for everything. I could shake the house to the ground with it and it was crystal clear.

My living room TV before my current lame Samsung (that's another story) was an older Vizio when they were still good. I couldn't get the Sony system to work worth it so I went with a high end Vizio soundbar and it ain't even on the same planet as the Sony system. I should've kept the Sony system as I'm sure some tech genius could've made it work.

I gotta say I'm totally good with my little $19 Roku streamers. They've worked flawlessly for several years on my two dumb TVs. When I finally lose my patience with the Samsung in my living and take it out to the range it's getting replaced with a dumb TV and a cheap Roku.

I will admit the commercials are what they are and I'm lightning fast with the mute button.Right now it's nothing but a constant bombardment of political ads for both RI and Mass but that can be said regardless of streaming app,OTA or cable/satellite.

Good move on a soundbar Dave. I will say that they are generally better if they can be matched up to wireless back speakers and a sub. Yes my av system could out perform the current system of bar, wireless back speakers and a sub but it still sounds pretty darn good and the removal of all those boxes, wiring etc was well worth the change. Love the clean and simple setup we now have. The Apple Siri Remote is all we use or need.

I agree, but we have gotten used to the sub and back speakers not working that the investment didnt process. Snagged the sound bars at nearly half price on eBay - new in the box. Ready for the ATV switch!

Yeah, imagine it becomes hard to bite a second time after a bad experience. Guess we were lucky.
