What to read first?

Hi there, I just signed up for the first time this week.

Forgive me for asking, but I was wondering if anyone could point me to any particularly good threads that I should take a look at first, so I can get up to speed here?

It depends on what you are wanting to learn about first.

If you are interested in Brisket then I would recommend this one

Most of the other forums have a sticky like this for different types of meat. The real fun is in exploring the old posts though. 8) Lots of cool stuff buried in here.

If you haven't already done so then sign up for the free e-course and it will help get you up to speed quickly.

Welcome to SMF Mike. There is a lot of info on this site. You might have to do a little digging to find what you're looking for. If you can't find it, don't be afraid to ask. This forum is filled with great people always willing to point you in the right direction.

hello, mike, welcome to SMF. i started with the first post (oldest) and read up to the newest one when i started. head on over to roll call and introduce yourself.

Welcome I would recommend the 5 day course but really just move around the forum and settle in on an area that makes the most sense. For an example if you have a smoker already check out the part that fits what you have like a wood, charcoal, electric etc.

I would get a pork butt, maybe some phatties, and whatever else you are hungry for and make a night of it. Read through the first couple pages on the Pork forum for anything to do with pulled pork or pork butts, and fire up your smoker. You then have 8-12 hours to read everything else and absorb knowledge.
