Well, this was a turn of events.

Afternoon friends!
Well, this morning we found out that our bid was rejected for the park model we were looking at. Not to mention the description was misleading. The deck and shed were 2 years old. The unit itself was a 2019. When I called them out on it. They corrected the add. But didn't budge on the price. So, me and Ann went to the Meyers supercenter in Syracuse NY to look at a few park models. While walking around. The salesman asked if these were roomy enough. Ann said she'd like more room.

Enter the Grand Design solitude 390RK. 41.5 feet of camper with 5 slides on it. This thing is a BEAST!! The inside room is insane. The bay storage is amazing. Now I just need a place to put it! They'll deliver anywhere in NY. And do basic set up for peanuts compared to what I thought that would be. Super stoked!!

That is very nice. Did you decide the mobile RV life was not for you and now you want a more permanent campground life?

Thank you! We're at a crossroad on the rv thing. We love going places with the rv. But over the last couple of years. The cost on these sites have gotten pretty stupid. 5 of the trips we take equal 1/2 - 3/4 of a year seasonal cost when everything is added up. We're booked already next year on 6 trips for the rv. So, we'll see what we'll do after that.

Thanks Ray! They'll deliver it. I'm not planning on moving it around........yet!
SO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THAT MONSTER STEVE, IT IS A 5TH WHEEL ISN'T IT? WHEN IT COMES TO TRAILERS, CABOVERS, AND 5TH WHEELS THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH TRUCK, I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE.

Yup. A fifth wheel. For the next year. It is staying at a seasonal site. After that. I'll probably sell the class A. And get a truck to pull this.

I couldn't agree more....I had a TC and pulled a large boat for years....now just the TT but my current Cummins Ram is licensed for above 17500 GVWR for just in case (mine taps out at 20K). I know I LOVE my Cummins exhaust brake and to tow haul transmission.

Sounds like a nice deal. We have also seen the HUGE increase in the "temp" site cost element....some places are almost the same as an extended stay hotel.... it's why we do dry camping in the season as the 29 at night fee helps offset the other places.

Just food for thought, at the price of a truck these days you can pay for a TON for towing service to move it around and you don't have to have the "white" knuckle experience of the intown navigation with a 41ft rig.... If I were planning on a seasonal set up, I would strongly consider that....ie a truck to pull that will likely be at a similar price point or more if you get the bells and whistles on it.

That's the thing with RV's... Once you get one and had it for a couple of years you start wishing it had this and that... So then you trade it on something that has this and that... But then after a couple of years... This and that hits you again... So then you go start looking for another one ... The cycle never stops... Don't ask me how I know...

Let me also tell you... Slide outs... Sure the extra room is nice... But boy when they take a crap... Well.. You'll find out

Gorgeous! I saw some at the state fair this summer that blew my mind. Yours is right up there, too.
My folks went thru a succession of trailers, but this resembles the one I spent much of my youth in. Looks pretty pitiful compared to the new ones.

Very nice rig Steve.
The Park models once set up seem so much more stable compared to the campers. Brother went that route 2 yrs ago from camper style beings he has a permanent site, very pleased.

Nice unit. Really really nice unit
I've seen some people make an enclosure around the goose neck to store bulky items.
Don't forget tire covers

Great food for thought. Your trailer pushes the limits of a 1 ton dually. My minimum would be a FL70 with a 8.3 C series Cummins for towing power and chassis weight to keep the trailer from pushing you.
But a park trailer gets moved how often?
