Nice selection Dan! Definitely a good choice. Wife got a similar one but the 1500 version when her 2010 Avalanche was semi wiped out in a snow storm. She hauls two horses and more than fine for that. Still 6.0L. Damn thing is huge compared to the Avalanche. We also take it to see her 100 yr old dad who lives about 170 miles north (I could use my electric but lots better to use the ICE truck for peace of mind). Her truck's ride is amazingly smooth and comfortable. You're going to love what you purchased!

We just parted ways with our '03 Civic (was not going to use Chineses parts to repair as none were available).

It was only last year (ie we had her for 21 years at this point) that we discovered that she had heated side mirrors. Found the button last year and wondered what it was for

My brother is by far worse than me when it comes to anything tech. He drives an 2022 2500HD. He brings it over to me to figure things out for him, YouTube is great for stuff like that, without it, I'd be lost. With this new truck I had to download two new apps, one was the GMC app, the other was the LoJack app, which they threw in, or I wouldn't have it., talk about system overload, my brain is still confused. One funny side story, after we signed the papers and were ready to drive off my wife asks the salesman for the manual, he says that big screen on the dash is the manual because a paper manual for this truck would be thicker than her bible, we got a good laugh out of that.

I'd advise not talking about units around Justin( yankee2bbq ) - especially big units. We don't want him getting too excited.

I sold our 5th wheel yesterday, best day ever. Our RV parking is tight, so whenever we wanted to use the trailer, I'd have to have a friend come over to help me roll it out by hand, which sucked. I'll never own another 5th wheel unless it stays in a park, like Steve is doing. I've towed bumper pulls my whole life with ease, just never could get used to backing the 5th wheel, the center pivot point wreaked havoc on my brain. (easy to do) LOL!!!
Even with all the cameras on this new truck I'd still have to pull the 5th wheel out by hand. As it only has a few inches on either side, so the truck wouldn't fit through the gate.

I woke up early this AM, started the truck with my phone to warm it up, then sat is the driveway exploring the gadgets that it has. Holy hell, it's gonna take some time, these things are computers on wheels.

If I'm not parking in a handicap spot, it's gonna be parked away from other cars for a while, at least until the new car smell is gone. LOL!!!

Good luck with that. I'll never forget when I bought a family van many moons ago. It was a big deal for us. I would park it on the fringes of parking lots. Came out one day with my groceries and there it was, way out there on the edge...with a shopping cart firmly planted up against it....cant have nuthin'...

I have a 2007 Silverado, base fleet model, no frills. Will likely have it until I die...our 2004 Toyota Sienna may also last us to the grave. I keep them well maintained. My wife still loves her van and doesn't want a new one. The great thing about it is its already scratched and dinged up (some of which she did herself) so we can park it anywhere with reckless abandon!

When I drive a rental, or my Dads vehicle, I have to get acquainted with the tech. It's distracting at first. I'll be bieng real careful backing out of a space and dad keeps saying, "your good, your good"...then I realize the rear-view is right there on the screen in front of me! I keep having to remind him we own "analog" vehicles! We still have to turn our heads to see stuff...

Had the adaptive cruise on a rental once. It was great in bumper to bumper traffic.

Congrats on the investment. A real treat now that your mortgage is paid off. I'm just shocked they still sell those things in Cali. Thought they were going to be banned over there coming soon (the petrol models).

Love me a New GMC truck. Drove a new one every 3 years for 18 years. Got out of my 2 side gigs, got divorced and didnt live in the country anymore, moved to a small suburb in a new house, and traded the truck on something for me instead of being utilitarian. Picked up a Porsche Cayenne. You referenced the power difference. Granted, they arent 2 trucks, but the power band is outrageous compared to my 2019 Sierra.

That's a beautiful Duramax! When I sold my 2002 LB7 it had about 325K miles and was still a solid truck. I've been shopping for my next Duramax for a few months. I love the smell of a new truck!

If I could get in one of the new Vett's I'd be really temped, but with my back it's a hard NOPE, ain't happening!!! Good thing, I'd probably kill myself driving it, I like going fast.

The funny thing is we weren't really looking for one, just driving by I said to my wife lets just stop in and check them out. I was trying to talk myself out of it, and she kept saying just buy the thing, you know you want it. My )6 HD was still fine, it only has 166,000 miles on it.
But we have been talking about getting a new truck for the last yr or so, before my wife retires. Glad we did it, I love my new truck.

My truck has the button to engage when backing up with a trailer. Haven't had occasion to use it though (said to back up itself??)
