I’ve been playing with different ideas/mods for a while trying to get the temps down in my 22” Weber. Some have done ok but have never quite been able to get the control I’d like. A while back I saw someone had a shield to go just under the cooking grill. It was an aftermarket accessory made of I think ceramic or something like it. Where I live I can’t buy anything like this and it is expensive to buy and ship so I’ve been searching for an equivalent. Today I think I found something that will work.

This is a 20” día aluminum sheet used to cook tortillas over charcoal or wood. Looking forward to trying it out this weekend.

I've seen deflectors before, but just not that high up. Usually they sit down on the charcoal grate. Looks like you did a good job. Let us know how it works.

I made one that was down on the grate. It worked ok but just couldn’t get the control. I think my problem is thickness of material. What I’ve have available and used in the past is fairly thin.

Two hours in and it’s been fairly easy to maintain 240-250*. With a little practice I think i got it. It’ll be fun practicing.
