Hello!

I am going to be picking up my first smoking apparatus soon, I have narrowed it down to a couple options but my eye keeps coming back to the Weber Kettle. I've browsed through forums and most people seem to like it, one question I had though is what sort of smoking capacity is it capable of? I don't need it to do too much, but would it be able to smoke two racks of ribs simultaneously or would they spill over top of the charcoal and wood? I'm assuming one pork butt is the max which works for me. Would a brisket still be capable of being smoked? The other smoker I have sort of narrowed it down to are the Masterbuilt that is on sale at Lowe's right now, an Oklahoma Joe Highlander, and a Pit Boss pellet smoker, but something about managing an actual fire I find appealing and I can pick up the 22 inch Kettle for 99 bucks so that is kind of hard to beat. Any input from you all would be appreciated as I am trying to learn as much as I can. I've also got a Broil King Signet three burner so I dont NEED the smoker to be versatile, but it certainly is never a bad thing.

Thank you!

I have used a Weber Kettle forever (just ordered a Horizon offset). The largest kettle will do a brisket, 2 pork butts and 2 st. louis or babyback ribs with careful placement. I use wood chunks and indirect heat on one side with the meat on the other.

I can do 2 racks on mine but I make a rack so I can stack them, I think they make a small rib rack that will let you turn them on their side and cook 2-3 , I have baskets with my performer and the grate has 2 wings that lift up if you don't put food on them to reload charcoal and wood, coarse you can put the fire on 1 side food on the other and put the vent over the food so smoke/heat will move over it well, my performer will be the last cooker to leave my house, I have pellet smoker and electric and a 250 gal trailer rig so that should tell ya how much love I have for the Weber kettles, if I didn't have other means to smoke I would buy a 26" , I promise you wont ever regret it.
