Earlier today, I read a post from a new member saying that this forum should be limited, that there are just too many topics and its basically clogging the site up. Some of you may recall. Well I totally disagree. I think its awesome to have so many ideas and points of view. In fact, it was the diversity of the members here who gave me ideas. Picked what I thought would work from one and maybe an idea or two from another. Needless to say, that member was pretty much put in his place by the veterans here. But someone did bring up a good topic in that discussion. Cacus. I believe he was serious. He said "I think the we need more forums with more topics. We could use a forum dedicated to Cast iron cookware, campfire cooking and equipment for camp cooking, tips on how to enjoy the outdoors more(how to deal with bugs n critters), and food saftey and sanitation". I dont know about the bugs and stuff, but overall I think that is a pretty good idea. Now I dont know if that easy to do or not, I am many things, but computer savvy I am not. What about breakin down the different cuts of meat? Hams, bacon, butts and so on. Just an idea, what do you think?

Just my opinion.

I agree, there is way to many topics here.
Used to be able to come and talk about smoking, now i got to go thru 3 pages of other stuff to find anything related to smoking, and this coming from a veteran!

While as much as this used to be family, people come and go and the forum takes on a new look every 15 months or so.

Now you want to make it a 1 stop forum where you can smoke, garden, recycle and maybe get a pedicure?

Theres more info here than 1 newbie can soak in at one time, let alone in a years time!

Take a look around, theres already a D.O forum and Cast iron section and i'm sure i missed the bug forum here.

Where exactly are these bugs? In the smoker or the meat??

too many topics---i have a bunch of channels on dish tv but i only watch one at a time.......what i want, when i want....

Its the diversity and the information overload that attracted me to this place. Yes you can over do it and turn the whole thing into a big soap opera by adding pedicures and sob stories. But there are potentialy alot of people who would be inerested in cooking with masonry pizza ovens, tandoors and other forms of outdoor cooking if they knew it existed. I guess thats why we go to so many different web sites everyday.

I'm still fairly new, and I don't want to step on the toes of the veterans, but isn't the name of the site SMOKING MEAT FORUMS? I love this forum and I'm here for the long haul, but I joined because I wanted to interact with other meat smokers about smoking meat. I agree that it can become overdone. But like I said, either way I'm here to stay. Just my .02.

it seems easy enough to me that if you don't want to read about dutch oven cooking or any other topic you simply don't click the link, just sayin.

I for one really like the forum we have well rounded warm hearted folks here that know what the forum is all about smf and we have a lot that come and go.There are alot of subjects on here i agree if ya see a thread ya dont like pass it by and do not reply to it. i have noticed threads that have no response dont last long and are not repeated. just my 2 pennys

This is a craft that encompasses many many things, from equipment to how-tos to prep and safety, etc. etc. and thankfully just about every facet is explored and expounded on by all the members - you have to have a wide diversity in subjects and topics to cover all the aspects of "Smoking Meat" - that's why it's called "FORUMS" and not "FORUM". It's like a set of encyclopædias - just one book wouldn't cover anywhere's near all the subjects. Don't just look at 'New Posts' - look into each individual forum as you like, do searches, find out what you need to know. This is a fantastic resourse - don't limit it!
