I have been around for a while, though I haven't posted too often, I just enjoy reading the discussions. Anyway...

I am graduating soon and heading to Northern Indiana, valpo, to continue my expensive education. Anyone familiar with Valparaiso, or the surrounding area, and can recommend any resteraunts, ect... Not Chicago, I am well aware of the great finds there, but I don't have the time to travel there often.

I would like to have a Hawaiian BBQ on the lake, since the dunes are right there, any thoughts?

Broadway Cafe for Greek/American food.

Spartan Pork Chops are my favorite. They also do ribs (But I have never tried them and I doubt that they are pit cooked but I bet they are still good) I left the region about 25 years ago but still do a yearly visit. I miss the dunes. I doubt that you will be able to have any fire on the beaches, but I would reccomend trying some Smelt fishing next time they are running.

"Bronkos" (Crown Point) is another place that I would check out for good food, PIZZA! I think that they also do ribs.

The region is not really known for traditional Southern or SouthWestern type BBQ. But there are a few places that will satisfy your taste.

Kelseys Steakhouse has amazing food. I would also reccomend Gauchos Brazillian Steakhouse. They do the whole thing with the different meats on the long skewers and all. That whole gig you olan on doing at the dunes sounds like a pretty good idea. Go for it man. Like it was said earlier there is not really much around here for BBQ

Thanks for the responses. I am certainly going to visit those places. I don't know anyone that has been to that area, and I was only at the dunes about 15 years ago. So being young, I have really little idea what it was like.

Thanks again, and if anyone else can add, please do so. I really appreciate it.
