Hello friends, my name is charlie and I'm kind of new to the scene. I wanted to throw out some photos of a upright freezer build I've been working on. Patched holes, flashed the opening , faced the inside of the door, adhered a seal, new door hinges. Cut a three inch damper in the bottom and a three inch open vent up top. Running a lp burner. All I need yet is a steel plate above the burner with say a 6 inch hole in the center with the heat displacer on top. I need some grates aproximatley 24 inches square and some way to clamp the door shut. So hey, what do yall think? Any tips or words of advice. The only thing I worry about is the 13guage galvanized steel I backed the door with and the galvanized angle I used for shelvind brackets. Im looking forward to testing the heat and flow.

Charlie Welcome to one of the coolest forums ever Im new here too 1 week Im sure someone will pipe in soon however I did read somewhere here about folks useing snocat hood latchs I believe they are the same as rubber snubbers on Jeep hoods for securing the door.

Hello all. I made a little progress on the upright freezer conversion. I found a pair of shiney, springloaded T handle hood latches that sucked the door up nice and tight! Im still waiting on a 1/4 " alumn plate with a six inch diameter hole in the center to place over the burner. And then the heat displacer about three inches above that.
