Turn my silver smoker to propane?

Hey guys,

If I am to turn my silver smoker into a propane style smoker, how long would your standard blue rhino propane tank last taking into consideration around 225 Degrees F?

Also, this link is where I got the idea and this guy uses lava rocks. Do you think that is a good idea?

Hey FM Welcome to SMF. Please go over to the Roll Call forum and make an intro post...location, experience...smoker type <which I guess we know> and the reason you'd want to go gas??

I like the idea of using LP to assist in igniting the coal or wood but using all LP with lava rock doesn't seem very flavorful. I guess if you could incorporate some wood flavor it might be ok.
