I got this email today, maybe some have already seen it. I didn't realy realize this until now.

Perhaps the folks of the midwest are a strong willed, proud, and honest group.
Perhaps its just to soon. My thoughts go out to all of them who are suffering, and will be in termoil for months, maybe even years to come. May god bless them and help each and every one of them.

here is the email:

Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities
> holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and
> helping the folks affected by the floods?
> Where is all the media asking the tough questions
> about why the federal government hasn't solved the
> problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?
> Why isn't the Federal Government relocating
> Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago?
> When will Spike Lee say that the Federal
> Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?
> Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?
> Where are all the looters stealing high-end
> tennis shoes and big screen television sets?
> When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that
> he wants to rebuild a 'vanilla' Iowa, because
> that's the way God wants it?
>
> Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage
> complete with reports of cannibalism?
> Where are the people declaring that George Bush
> hates white, rural people?
> How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about
> the Iowa flooding ever again?

Well said Dan and a great wake up call if we could get more people to see this. I just copied it and am going to do my once-a-year email spam to my entire address book.

It has not stopped in Iowa, as you all know. I'm getting a more personal interest in this every day as the mighty Mississippi keeps widening her banks. My mother is in Southeast Missouri, living one mile from the river, working one block away. With the St. Louis area now getting it, she's only got a hundred fifty miles of worry left.

Amen to that

Hope everyone is doing as well as they can.

The rural folk tend ta take care a thins themselves an hep out there neighbors. Perty much the way it's always been.

Probably ain't never gonna be the same fer some folks. Know people who have lossed everthin an some thought they were covered by "Flood Insurance" which is turnin out ta be a sad joke.

We thank yall fer yer carin an concerns, an we think alot about the folks ta the south of us gettin what we already had. It is a sad site ta see folks loose everthin, thankfully the loss of life has been minimal, though any loss is to much.

I'd like ta take this opportunity ta thank folks who voluntereed ta hep others, those just doin there job like any other day an our National Guard troops who left trainin an came back ta the state an tried there mightiest ta stem the flow a water. Many were booed an had things thrown at em cause they traveled all over the state tryin ta hep. A sorry state fer folks ta indure that had already been workin hard, came home ta hep an be insulted in such a way. They paid fer there own food an water an lived in conditions most folks would not like to see let alone indure. So next time yall see a soldier, thank em fer keepin us safe, they bought alota folks some time ta get ta safety, they worked hard an deserve our thanks, not our hatred.

I'm gettin off the soap box now. Thanks everyone fer the thoughts an hep.

I also recieved that a few days ago and didn't blink a eye-as far as the streangth and will of the folks in the midwest through these times.

travcoman45, maybe I've been livn in a cave, but are you sayn the fine folks in Iowa were boo'n the National Guard when they came to help them?

Good excellent post Capt.,I to will copy and email it around. Thnx

When my boys unit pulled inta Camp Dodge, yes there were folks booin them an throwin things cause they had left Des Moines an went to several towns to the south ta hep sandbag. I hate ta say they did, but that is the unfortunate truth, some folks just are plain stupid. Not exactly the response them boys was lookin fer after a week a hard work an sorry livin conditions. I hope the folks who did it hang there heads in shame, but rather doubt they have that intelligence.

Not the thin yall see in the news either.

Thanks travcoman45 for the explanation....to bad some people just don't get it.

Our thoughts and prayer are with the folks through out the midwest. And of course the National Guard and all of our armed forces for that matter.

Thanks for the link Glen. Fine article!
