I'm planning on doing our turkey on Friday instead of Thanksgiving. It's a 17# Butterball that came brined with 8% sodium. Would it be a mistake to inject with Tony Chachere's Creole style Butter 14% sodium?
This is my first attempt at doing a turkey on my MES 30 and I dont want to create a salt lick out of it!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I just ate my turkey, Wednesday... I injected with my "go to" no salt vegetable stock and STPP... The veggies add a marvelous taste to the bird and the STPP (at 0.5%) keep the meat very moist... I injected 5% solution because it was already injected...
I think, due to the extra moisture in the bird, it went through a horrible stall at 149F... Just wrap in foil and push through the stall...

I agree with Dave...

If I don't brine I do inject and the vegetable stock has a great flavor...but I usually brine my birds and half of the brine solution is vegetable stock
