i just entered the photo contest where one of the requirements was a pic of the "thin blue smoke" ok with my smoker i have been burning Royal oak Lump and adding the smoke wood chunks to it as needed , when i add the smoke wood i get white smoke not "thin blue" am i not doing something right or what? why is it not thin blue ?????

Can you post us a picture? By thin blue we mean that you should be able to see through the smoke without objects being blotted out. Almost invisible is another goal.

When you first put your wood in you will get some thicker smoke that may look to be white, but should feather off to a light color and be able to see through it. What you don't want is for it to look like a locomotive the whole time you're cooking. You don't want the smoke fighting to get out of the stack.

Hope this helps you out.

Are you soaking the chunks or throwing them in dry?

How many are you using at a time?

How hot is the smoker?
