I have 3 thermometers. One came with my weber and sits in the dome lid and you can remove it, but I never use it on that grill. The other is I believe an old Snap On AC thermometer that goes to 220 degrees. The 3rd is in the door of my masterbuilt electric. It has a wingnut on the backside that holds it in. Regardless of which thermometer I use, where should I put it? I thought about drilling a hole below grate level and just inserting my Weber thermometer. Then I could pull it out to remove the charcoal pan. Should I have a thermometer there or in the lid? I am not gonna go spend money on a 4th thermometer when I got 3 good ones. Any suggestions?

cmwr, morning......  It doesn't matter how many therms you have it is whether they are accurate or not....  calibrate them and find out where you are on the "accurate therm" front....

I use 3 therms....   grate level... Meat temp.....  General smoker temp for easy eyeballing...  Once you know your smoker and hot, cold zones... you will have a feel for what is happening inside...   Having them calibrated, so you have the correct numbers, is most important...
