We got a late start today, but things moved along pretty quickly....

Started out by welding up the inside joints. Holy smokes that was a chore!...stitch stitch stitch..... Then finally set the base layer of bricks.

Then row 2.....and started on row 3 :-)

Just love it when a plan comes together!

Coming together fast - when I'm not the one welding. And here I was hoping for a herringbone floor.
I guess it'll have to do.

Herringbone.....Glad you didn’t mention that before cause I would have tried to do it! It would have justified a new cool tile saw! LOL

Having an internal debate on the temp gauges.....

I really like this new model with the 6” stem, but tops out at 550.

I also like this one but I’m not sure if the 4” stem will be long enough. I would love to be able to push the IT to 550 to 600 for pizza but not sure it will be possible....

If anyone that has a tru tel with a 4” stem can you please tell me how far the stem mark is from the threads?

Thanks 90beater! And yes this build is “cooking on high” kind of thing!

All the vertical wall bricks are in! Just need to put in the retainer pieces in.

And the side frame supports for the hinges are in. It’s all rigid and rolls around nicely.

A view of the top framing....

Next up is to frame up the roof, hope to have that done tomorrow and then the doors on Saturday :-)

It may just be me but the angle structure looks cool! Kinda sad it’s going to be all covered up...

Bingo, a fire brick roof! I still need to cut the end bricks but that won’t talk much effort.

Just a view from the inside! Brings a smile to my face!

Next up is the doors! Going to leave the roof skin off till the grill stuff is in. It’s nice having access from the top!

Thanks a nice visual!!!!

Oh and the meat crane is on the task list soon.

Thanks Warren! It was nice to have several free days for us to just be focused on it over spring break....but that came to an end :-(

We are hoping to have good weather this weekend so we can finish the doors & get started in the internal grill part of it.

We had a few hours to work today :emoji_sunglasses:

So we started on the CC door frame and doors.

Just have a little more adjusting to do (ie, severing the tacks and adjusting each leg length individually to get them just right!). But they are really close.

We are going to delete the shelve in front cause it will make reaching the back part of the grill a stretch. So we are on the fence about putting doors on the bottom part.......

Believe it or not but we discovered that no supply house stocks 3/4 SS angle, so had to order it in from Portland.

Thanks again fivetricks for all the likes! This project is not just a build but is also a research project....

We have DOORs!

We spent the morning tuning the doors and then did the full weld of the side frame, then it was on to the the plate door panels.

We double welded the hinges on both sides so the are solid and swing smooth. The brick lining is next.

I have learned that when working with hinges you DONT get them to hot....or they start binding when they cool....it’s like a round robin stitching party :-)
