Good evening all

posting to thank the forum. A little background

A 24,000lb tree feel on the edge and patio of my house in Tennessee a couple weeks ago. Everyone is fine but it smashed my 11 year old Weber Genesis 325. The Weber was a great grill, but I cooked on charcoal for 12 years before the Weber. I actually switched when Kingsford changed the bag from 20lb to 18. For the same price. Bugged me

I grill 4 times a week year around, but missed the smoke flavored food. Used chips on the grill wrapped in foil to try to get it back

To shorten this and not ramble on I just purchased a classic at Lowe’s for $749. Seemed like great deal with the classic 2 at $1199. With the money saved I can get all the accessories.

thanks to forum for helping me decide

Welcome! Sorry to hear about the tree damage and I'm glad everyone is alright but maybe it was a little blessing in disguise:emoji_grin: Congrats on the new cooker! Make sure to post some Q views!

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences for your loss. I believe a moment (although brief) of silent contemplation is in order.... OK, Let's get to shopping!!!

Wondering if the tree is of the type from which good wood for smoking can be obtained.

We are good and blessed. My 19 year old daughter was in the back yard getting a patio cushion that blew away. She was walking back to the house when the tree fell in front of her. If she’d been 10 seconds earlier getting back it would have landed on her and killed her
We feel blessed.
Could care less about the house or any material after that.
My wife gets a new kitchen (not going to blame me if it’s not right) and my job is redoing the covered patio , grill, and new Woodard furniture to replace the other 2 sets.

and yes I am trying to figure out every accessory I need.

curious about the electronic temp thing

Thanks for the reply. I’m really pumped about a new grill after 11-12 years

Yes you are blessed. Your daughter (and your family) are truly watched over. We redid/enlarged our kitchen in 2008/09. Bought an 8 burner Blue Star gas range. A true beast! Enjoy the new grill and furniture. I don't thinks the wood is good for smoking; maybe building a small Ark.
