I'm modifying my brinkmann electric smoker by adding a temp gauge. I'm not sure where to put it though, should I put it on the cover or on the body down by the meat. Share your thoughts please...

I think most put them in the lid.  When I was thinking about getting a Brinkmann, I ran across this video that gives a little tutorial.

 
I think a better option would be digital thermometers on each of your grates. I have a regular one on the lid of my brinkmann as well and the temp is different in the hood from what it really is at the grates.

I also have a Maverick 732 that I use as well.
