I would assume they would last a while with a product like that.
I have the smoke from thermoworks and have been using that for a couple years already.
Never had a probe go bad on me yet.

Jcam22s reply above mentioned he has seen a lot of probe failures so just looking for more info.

general probe failures or Rec Tec Probe failures in particular? I haven't read of any Rec Tec probe issues, nor have I seen any with mine. with 6 year warranty I feel confident if I had any for the next long while too.

I have a bunch of Thermoworks probes that I have used for years without any failures as well.

I have had tremendous issues with FireBoard probe failures. There are many others who seem to have as well. They have been great in replacing them typically but my confidence for cooks is low until they can explain WHY they are failing so often. I take very good care of then, don’t kink them, don’t submerses them in water ETC. When all is working well it’s a spectacular unit. I lost 3 probes on a cook Saturday. 2 meat and 1ambient shot to 750F which is what theirs do when they fail.

Dam that's crazy. Never had any problems from the probes I use from thermoworks.

Might be time to change brands...

That is crazy bad luck. Have they given you a new head unit? Maybe it is shorting out the probes?
