Hi all,

I'm looking for a good thermometer to tell me the inside temp of my smoker. The thermometer in the door of my smoker I found to be almost off by 100 degrees. I hung a metal oven thermometer from one of the racks inside the smoker but I can't read it anymore with all the smoke residue on it, I tried cleaning it and all the numbers wiped right off the thing. Today I smoked a turkey and had to use my probe thermometer to get the right internal temp before sticking the probe into the Turkey and hoping that I held the right temp. Anyway, any suggestions for a good thermometer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'll second the one above, and if you get a second meat probe you can watch two Butts at once.

What D88de said.. ET-73

I have a wired pyrex that is good, too. (got it at bed, bath & beyond for 22$)

I have 2 of the Taylors mentioned above and a Maverick ET-73. Love the Taylors and the ET-73 is great because its remote and also has a low temp alarm.

Tel-tru is industry standard on higher end smokers.

Most folks also use probe thermometers. Some use a potato or wine cork. I drilled an old piece of broom handle rather than constantly hunting for a potato.

You also notice I have an alligator clip to hold one of my probe thermometers.
