You might want to check out Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course, it will teach you all the basics plus a whole lot more!

An easier fix is to get some high temp RTV silicone, run a small bead along the edge of the door where it meets the smoker body (after cleaning it very well), lay some plastic wrap on the RTV then shut the door. Leave it closed until the RTV has set then open and peel of the plastic wrap. You now have a custom form fitted gasket!

Welcome to the site Rodney.  Where are you from?

As far as your door leaks you might want to search the site a bit to see how others have dealt with it.  If that doesn't work out I think an appropriately worded thread started in the general discussion or smoker builds areas will get you an assortment of ides.

Good luck.

If you didn't read the Terms of Service notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. Rule #11......"Off Site Links are not allowed here at SMF" is something new. There are other simple guidelines for all of us to remember as we interact here.

If you need any help roaming around here in SMF....just give me a shout.  Happy to help any time!

I started smoking on fathers day as well, with the mf two door smoker LPG, I added the gaskets which I found at ace, I am going to add a high pressure gas line ( bayou classic) I Think it is, I bought a digital thermometer, but wish  i would have bought one with two probes one for meat and one for smoker temp.  i dont soak or use chips anymore, but still have a few issues with flames. For all the issues I have had, I love this smoker, the meat I have smoked, and the fine folks on this site that have helped me on my way, search this site for all you can and happy smoking. RICK
