I think the kids are going to want to move back in. The brisket and sides look mighty tasty and the gathering place you created is just wonderful, for sure.
Well done Texascat, well done!
Nice progress so far getting that first step done is always the hardest, especially when the weather keeps messing with your plans. When I built mine, the concrete stage really was the turning point; once that cured, I could pick away at the rest whenever I had an hour to spare.
If you can, plan the layout before you get too far ahead things like where the grill vents, where the prep space goes, and how you’ll run power make a big difference later. I also learned the hard way to seal everything early, even temporary surfaces, so rain doesn’t cause surprise damage.
I picked up a few ideas for organizing outdoor spaces from https://wickerpark.ca/ , mostly around keeping materials weather-resistant. It might give you some inspiration while you wait for the next dry weekend.
That's an awesome looking setup. I cook out of my garage/edge of the driveway and while it's not bad and I can usually stay dry/warm(ish) if needed it would be great to be in the middle of the party while I'm cooking... although there may be a few special treats that only the cook or a few friends that hang around the grills may know about!
