We have decided that we needed a table to put both of our BGE on...and the MES40. Going to put a roof on it so BBQing in the rain/snow is not a problem. Going to be 10' by 3'. Roof will have a 4/12 pitch, tall side is going to be 8'. Cut the angle on the 4x4 posts....first board I cut for the frame I cut at the wrong length...was repeating 9'9" over and over.....cut it 9'6"....duh.....

On the bottom of the frame, where the XLBGE will be supported I will also be making a spot to hold a Mailbox for the MES.

DOHHH.. cut it twice and it's still to short ...

Thanks for the laugh....

Looks great so far.  Planning on something for the grill and the MES 40 in the spring.  Definitely watching for tips

We both have bad backs so we built it so that the table top is about 35" high. The BGE grate should end up about 38" off the ground. The MES is up there a ways. I am just under 6'and need a small step ladder to reach the control panel on our MES...we have a first generation one with the control panel in the back. With the MES up at the front of the table it will have about 2' to the bottom of the metal roof I will be putting on it. Anyhow, the grates on the MSE are at a comfortable height. Going to make a couple of simple brackets that will go on in place of the wheels to hold it to the table as the plan is to leave it outside. We have some windy days, would hate for the MES to go crashing to the earth....

Have read some less than favorable reviews on the MES covers....Wife has been sewing for a couple of years now and may try to make a cover for it....if she backs out I am going to ask one of her sewing teachers to make a cover for me. If that does not work out I will be going to visit the fellow that made the seat on my chopper.

Couple of things I am wondering about...should the MES have a heat barrier under it? I turned it up to 275* today and let it run for 2 hours, the bottom of it was still cool. I have some rolled roof flashing that I may put under just because...The other thing I am concerned with is the glass in the door.....is it going to shatter if it gets wet when I am smoking something in it? I know all about electric and water with the roof over it should be no different than if it were sitting on a covered porch...Wife suggested we put up a curtain of sorts in front of the MES....a simple tarp hanging off of some j-bolts perhaps....

Hope some day to actually be living in a house....not "camping out" (sort of) like we are now. If we ever get that far we will have a covered porch....

Sorry for rambling.....

Merry Christmas....

Be sure there is air space under the MES.... In the older 30, there are electronic controls in the bottom of the unit... they are in the rear left corner of the bottom.... You want that area to remain cool as to not screw up the electronics... They also may be there in the newer and larger units also....

I have been trying to think something like this up for awhile. The only difference is that I have to be able to move mine as my job will have me moving every 2-3 years for a couple of more moves, so I am trying to think up a break down design, that or I might just go with a trailer setup that doubles as an outdoor kitchen. Looking to get some inspiration from your build.
