I was not a fan of this griil since I got it several years ago but like it now for things that I dont need a good sear. It does not get no where near as hot as my old Weber Silver B which gets very hot but it works great for chicken and sausage. I put SS grates on my CharGriiler, which is my favorite, over a year ago and just love them. I decided to put them on some of my other grills. Today was the day for the 410. When shopping for grates I look for 7mm rods. I also looking at the shipping weight which to me tells a lot about the build. Some will weight half as much as others. I ordered some for the Weber Silver B today. Next is the Weber 22" kettle which is going to be a little harder to find heavy duty ones without costing a lot . I been able to stay around $40 on the last few.

Nice . I've heard good things about that style of grate . I just put new burners in my 310 . Replaced the originals . Bought this one in 2017 .
Mine sears pretty good since I put the new deflectors in it .

Suprized you had to replace burners. I really dont use the 410 much. I think most the problem with getting high heat on the 410 is its size. That thing is huge! Wish I would of got the 310 but could not pass up the end of year deal I got. I use charcoal mostly anymore. The siver b just does steaks. They usually done in 5 or 6 minutes.

It's all about options . I have the SmokeFire doing ribs right now , and getting ready to light the 310 for wings and some sausage .

7 or 8 years is a pretty good run . The first 2 were good , but the farthest one was not wanting to light . That's a sure sign that something is blocking the flow inside . I got some rust out of that one .

Put a set of grillgrates on it. They increase the temp.
I had looked at those but they so $$. I happy with all the SS I put on all the grills except my old Weber Silver B. That is the grill I use when I dont fell like using charcoal and need a sear. Since I put the SS on it does not get near as hot as it did with the cast iron grates. I cant believe how much difference it makes! I either going to put the old grates back on or suck it up and buy those grillgrates. I was never happy with my newer Weber E410 not getting hot enough but now I believe it has more to do with the grates?

Just looked and can get those cast iron grates for $35. They worked great for years and think I will just go back with them?

I agree Brian. I've got the 2 burner weber propane grill and it just lacks in a lot of areas but it does have cast grates and I do think they work well for grilling & searing.
