Hello folks.  Fixer here, born as Robert Smith but earned a nickname years ago that really stuck.  From Detroit, living in Los Angeles now (Atwater Village neighborhood, down the block from BigMista's BBQ every Sunday at the Farmers Market - have some of his pulled pork here for lunch today!).

I have dabbled in smoking using a cheap offset and a weber kettle with water pans, just recently bought an MES30 off craigslist (and an AMNPS!) and am planning a smokehouse build as part of my outdoor canning kitchen.  I buy as much of my meat as I can from a local farm that is all grass-fed pasture raised animals both for me and for the dogs - I have two Tibetan Mastiffs that eat better than some people I know!

Other projects include arduino controllers for smoker temp controls and for converting a chest freezer to a temp/humidity controlled unit for meat & cheese aging and root cellar for harvest season (I have 220 sq ft of raised bed gardens and 20 fruit trees in my front & back yards).  Sous Vide controller coming soon from a Kickstarter project.  I also just traded for a meat grinder/sausage stuffer, so bacon and sausage are coming soon too.
