Smoking sausage vertically in a Smokin-It #3?

Hi folks!

Strongly considering getting a #3 after reading through the various reviews and discussions. Haven't seen too much discussion on smoking sausages though.

Wondering if anyone knows how this smoker might work if the racks were pulled out and sausages hung on dowels? Has anyone tried this with success? If so, wondering how many regular sized rings might fit?

I have done it with snack sticks and summer sausage. It's not a very tall unit but it can be done.

There is nothing wrong with laying them on the shelves if space gets tight.

Have yet to do it but picked up some 'S' hooks to string my next batch across one of the racks. Not sure how many pounds SH has in there but that's a bunch.
