I have a smokers that I got from Target that I paid 150.00 dollars for. I have been unable to get it to 250 degrees. I am thinking of buying a yoeder smoker for 849.00 dollars. Can anyone tell me if this will work. New to smoking.

a Yoder is nice and if the 150 means nothing to you go ahead and enjoy a great smoker. but maybe this board can help you with the target brand one. what model? pics etc.

The Target brand is a Char Broil with a side fire box, it looks great, but I have been unable to get it up to 250 degrees. I have the grill in an L shape corner outside  of the house. I wonder if it is getting enough air, should I use a fan. It would be great if you can help me find a way to get some heat in this grill. I will take some pictures next time.

vets open? lid closed? have you checked the accuracy of your temp guage?

anyway between this site search and you tube there are a lot of information o that grill.

how much charcoal or lump do you use?

Tell me which set up will produce the most heat. I have the fire box damper open and the stack open. I use about two chimmeny stacks of lump to start.

I have a charbroil and get lots of heat from it.

You need to have the stack vent open all the way and you adjust the vent on the fire box to control the heat. Do you have it open all the way? Do you have you charcoal on the grate in the firebox?

Air is the key here.  Do you have enough air going around the coals?  In other words do you have air going above and below?  Are the lumps raised off the bottom of the fire box?

I think pictures of your rig loaded up with coal from a few angles may be a good way to get you the best help.

Has anyone tried using a fan to move the air. MY grill is in an L shape corner of the house, I an corned it is not getting enough air. Thanks for all you help.

No, you shouldn't have to use a fan... The smoker will react better to air adjustments in a still (no wind) environment... as mentioned above, some pics of your set-up would be VERY helpful... are you using the factory thermometer that's installed on the lid ? If so, you really should think about investing (they are cheap) in a Maverick 732 thermometer...

I added a small fan to my Original Bradley along with a few other mods.. Its a small one and just enough to move heat around. It gives me even temps through the whole smoker.. Ust to hang sausage and the bottoms would be over cooked by the time the tops got done. So you had to fip half way through. A common problem in all smokers. But with the fan I dont get that now.
