Hi, I am new to this community and I am hoping to get some advice. I am looking to purchase a smoker that can handle eight strip loins at any given time. I prefer to use wood, but open to propane or electric. I have been thinking about getting the Landmann

3895 G W L A as it has over fifteen hundred square inches of cooking area. Does anyone have any input please.

Also i purchased a Kamado from my local costco recently. I love it, but I need a heat defusser. Any idea of a store that will carry such an item

Cheers

Alan,

That surelooks like a nice smoker to me. I have a GOSM and I like to use it when I really want exact temp control. With the gassers, you can do everything from cold smoking with an AMAZEN dust burner, to pumping 300 plus degrees to something if you so felt the desire. I really like the two drawers for the water pand and the chip box!

Other than the electric smokers, I think the gasser is going to be your best bet for consistent smoking..

And welcome aboard also!

What kind of strip loins are you talking about? About how big (long) are they? I'm not sure how wide the GOSM Big Block that Pit referenced is but I have a GOSM Widebody 3405BGW and if you are talking about whole pork loins I don't think I could fit eight of them in mine. I would have to cut them and I only have 3 racks, there is a space for a 4th but it only came with 3.

I would check the width of the Big Block and decide how wide you need it. Masterbuilt has a vertical propane that is 24"wide, it's the XL model and has 4 racks. It is a good smoker but like most needs some mods to make it work good.

I see this is your first post here, when you get a minute would you do us a favor and go to Roll Call and introduce yourself so we can get to know you and give you a proper welcome, Thanks!

I never mentioned that I have a Big Block, just a GOSM. It happens to be the 18 inch model, but it's still a gasser.

This 26 x 21 x 47 is a big enough smoker to do what he needs to do..

When you said you had the 2 drawer model I just assumed it was a Big Block. You know what happens when we assume!!!

I guess something got lost in the wording. I didn't say I "had the 2 drawer model".

I was making a comparison between the one he referenced and the GOSM I own.

The Landman he is contemplating has the drawers..

The striploins are beef. They will weigh about 10 lbs once trimmed. i would think about 8 inches wide, 2 inches deep and 20 inches long. I will fill out profile shortly. Thanks for advice.

Are the strip loins the only thing you smoke, or do you just do them often? That Landmann would handle just about anything you wanted to throw at it.
