Ok fellas I am finally in gear to build my smoker. I am planing on a reverse flow smoker. Take a look at my calculation and see if they seem correct. I have a 100 gal propane tank and got the diameter of the tank by using the formula d= circumference/3.14. Let me know if something needs corrected.

Just out of curiosity, why did you do that instead of using 100 gal as the volume part of the calculator? I end up with the calculations being very different when going by volume. http://www.feldoncentral.com/bbqcalculator.html

Honestly I have no reason. I have had the calculator saved on my computer and did not look at it before i did my measuring. I will look at it using the volume part of the calculator.

Well I punched in my numbers, My fire box is 4000 cubic inches too small, hole from firebox to cooking chamber too small.

Thanks. Same for you. My problem is staying "motivated". I have had my tank for close to a 8 months and just now getting around to using it. I found some plate at a scrap yard in decatur it is a bigger piece then i need but  i am still thinking about picking it up,

I think i know what the problem is,  your tank is a 100 pound tank not a 100 gallon. You are correct by using dimensions instead of gallons.

After doing some research i think you are correct. The guy that gave it t me said it was a 100 gallon so i took his word. it was free so i will make due

That makes me think I should take another look at mine to figure out why the firebox is so big. One thing about having a working project, it can always be tweaked but better to get it is close as you can without having to re-invent the wheel.

Yea i think a hundred pounder is arourd 28 gallon.
