Agree with Bill.  The Smokenator is a good place to start. I got one a few years ago. Used it for small cooks and it worked as promised. The main drawback was size which meant having to add charcoal and refill the water pan.  I still use it from time to time but because I wanted to smoke larger cuts of meat I went to a WSM.

The reviews I have read suggest the water pan needs to be filled often. When you factor in shipping and hover grill it is about $100.00. For $200.00 more I can get a WSM.  For $1100.00 more I can get an egg :).  Not sure what I am going to do. I would really like a heat shield but the minion method is free.
