Well I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but here it goes anyway...

For the super bowl my brother went down to the local take-n-bake pizza place and got a couple pizza's, now normally I don't like these things because they taste like cardboard to me, but he cooked it on his traeger grill (which for those of you that don't know is a grill that's fed by hardwood pellets, similar to a pellet stove) and they turned out excellent! Nice smokey flavor, especially on the garlic chicken one. I could have eaten the whole pie by myself!

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has tried pizza in a smoker?

KCSteve was a BIG proponent of smoking pizza.......may he rest in peace..........i have YET to try it.......but its on my todo list
 
I did a quick search on pizza... turned up a bunch of stuff that wasn't about pizza. Guess I'll try it again.

I hear ya on that; I do wish they would upgrade the search engine for SMF. Make it more user friendly..... and so it would actually find what your looking for. That or I am not using it correctly?
 
Only done it twice and really enjoyed it also. Maybe doing some this friday with some friends as I have a few leftover from my sons superbowl party!!!!!!!!!!
 
I do them all the time that way. Crank up the heat and let it do it's thing. Your smoker isn't anything but an oven with the option to add smoke.
 
Heck...those wood fired stone pizza ovens must get SOME amount of smoke on 'em. From time past memory that oven has been used. All there was for a couple centuries I'd imagine.
 
Looks like the search expired. If you go to the top, under the search button, click the advanced search link and then do a search on pizza, but make sure you set it to search titles only. you'll get a ton of matches.

I have not smoked a Pizza but I do put them on my gas grill. I go to the store and buy the crust and make my own red sauce with meat. Top with cheese. Better then oven baked anytime. My freinds think I'm nuts.
 
I have successfully cooked one of those take-n-bakes (and several homemade) in my smoker.  I was worried the relative low temperature compared to an oven would make the crust too soft but it came out just fine.  I brought the temp up a little higher than I normally BBQ to 250F and the pizza took right at 50 minutes to cook.  I didn't use anything but appearance to judge when it was done but it is a great way to turn a $10 pizza into a real blockbuster for guests not expecting it.
