Terrible tragedy. Says an "ammonia leak" and "toxic cloud". Have to wonder what happened.

Ammonia is some nasty stuff. Hope the other 3 weren't in there. Will keep em in our thoughts.

I'm sure there is no Amonia in Slim Jims. A plant like that would need Amonia for cleaning, perhaps breaking down by-products, or who knows what else?

I have Bleach, Amonia and Drano at my house. But it doesn't go in the food.

Ammonia is used in refrigeration systems. Anhydrous ammonia to be more specific. Cold storage facilities use it although more and more companies are switching over to freon, which is much safer, but way more expensive.

I live about an hour and a half from this plant and they pulled one of the three bodies out this morning. They have found the other 2 and are trying to get to those bodies now. The ammonia is used for cooling in this plant. They have numerous people from local,state and federal level on site now trying to recover the bodies.
