Looking for a higher end American made smoker that uses pellets! This will be my first "Smoker"
I'm getting a new "Hestan" BBQ grill, But want a quality smoker to go with it. I'm retired and would be looking for a smaller unit.

Oh, I mentioned the Recteq is your role call post. But when you say high end, Yoder comes to mind. I'm sure the others will chime in very soon!

It is really challenging to find anything 100% American made. I have a number of things labeled as, "Made in the USA", but if you read the fine print, they were assembled in the USA from globally sourced materials.

Most of the steel and electronic components are no longer manufactured here in the USA, so the "Made in USA" label mostly means the product was assembled by American workers.

Also Smokin Brothers

Never used one but have seen them up close and personal. They are beasts!

When we built our retirement house I upgraded to a Hestan Grill - 36". The American made smoker didn't need any upgrading. I use a MAK 2-Star. These people are top notch with outstanding support. Love its relatively compact size, yet still with plenty of room given two shelves. Large hopper with the pellet dump feature, also has wifi if that's important to you. I rarely use it these days since I'm pretty much dialed in with how it performs for most things I smoke. Personally if I need to monitor IT etc., I use the RFX system from Thermoworks.

Some reasons I suggested the OP make a list of features and start crossing things off .
Funny how many Pellet grills don't have a dump feature on the hopper .

I did some looking at Mak's when you posted about yours awhile back .
Some really great features on them . If mine ever pukes , I'll think hard about getting one .

Here is a Feb 2024 quote from WDTMI.COM
"There’s no shortage when it comes to American-made smokers. The brands that I could find that produce smokers in the USA are Hasty Bake, Texas Pit Crafters, Yoder Smokers, Lang BBQ Smokers, MAK Grills, Twin Eagles Grills, Myron Mixon Smokers, Pitts & Spitts, Smokin’ Brothers, Weber, Meadow Creek, Cookshack, Big Daddy Smokers, Horizon Smokers, Blazn Grill Works, and Assassin Smokers & Grills."

I had very seriously considered getting a Blazn pellet smoker before I bought my GMG pellet smoker. Blazn are built in Beatrice Nebraska, looked to be very high quality. But I got impatient and drove twenty miles to buy my GMG cuz I didn't want to wait.

Just a one person input regarding Twin Eagles Gas Grill. I had a 42" version for approx 10 years and it continually had issues. Their hood therm never lasted one year and replacements were $70. Poor design of the wood chip basket location vs the flames, all the door hinges with screws were not rust proof stainless and had to be replaced. The igniter hoods rusted out quickly, the led lighting harness for the front panel is almost impossible to get to when one of the led lights fail. Grilling on it was pretty decent though. BTW their service dept was very poor. Those I did talk to came off as being irritated having to talk with a customer. For a close to $7,500 grill one should expect a lot more than that. So, when we built our retirement home I did some extensive research and settled on Hestan. 4 years with it now and very satisfied. I did replace their somewhat odd designed heavy billet grates with a set of GrillGrates which definitely create better looking grilled results because you first eat with your eyes, then the nose followed by the tongue.

I'm a firm believer of having equipment that does what it's supposed to vs attempting to be the all-in-one solution. Ergo, the Hestan for grilling and the MAK for smoking.

I agree with chopsaw chopsaw , look at a bunch and make a list of what you absolutely need/want and a budget.
I bought my Rec Teq over a decade ago and still love it with zero regrets. I made a spread sheet and narrowed it down to top three. MAC, Rec Teq, Yoder. I still believe all of these will make a purchase. Very happy with my final decision.

Welcome to SMF. Feel free to reach out. It will be fun to see hat you get.

smoke daddy not all US made but excellent customer service and that’s what counts in my honest opinion…. As others have posted you are going to struggle to get product 100% USA made especially that affordable…

Higher end and USA made means MAK is likely the answer. Love my 2 star general. They pride themselves with being made in the USA and not just the assembly. The tools that they send for assembly even said made in the USA on them.
