The Peoples Republic of IL.
Just venting. I am so sick of the dog gone rain here in IL. I can't remember a spring that so much of the crap has fallen. It's harder than heck to get out and do any yard work being it's always so wet. Not only that but how the heck is a man suppose to be smokin in all this wet weather.

I work construction and have lost a bunch of days due to the rain. The fishing hasn't been good due to the swollen rivers and lakes. Damn it we need a drying out. OK I'm done.

I feel your pain , my fellow Illinoian. I drained the swimming pool cover last week in hope of opening the pool....wrong. Now I have to drain it again.Went to Braidwood last weekend to go fishing. Stopped raining for a bit, but then had to deal with 40 mph winds pushing the boat around.

One good thing I must say is my grass has never been greener, besides having to cut it 2x's a week. I have an 8x 10 shed I am thinking about putting my smoker in and venting out through the roof that way I can then use it whenever.

Just wait.. at least the mosquitoes aren't here yet, But I can hear em breeding. lol

Just spent a week back in northern Missouri. All those clouds and rain can be distressing. Jetted out of Kansas City on the 13th. The tornados started hitting that evening. Man I hate those things.

Braidwood lake, I haven't been there in a while. We used to go there for the bluegill. I go to Heidecke lake with my brother. I haven't made it there this year as of yet. He finally picked up some keeper stripers and a few walleye this past week.

I'm in Wilmington.

Rick, actually I go to Shadow lakes, our family has a house there. We hit on a few bass, but mostly lrg bluegill and perch. I want to make it to Wilmington sportsman's club. Haven't been there in years, use to fish that alot.

Shadow lakes is a real nice place. We do a tad bit of work in there from time to time. We repair what Nicor tears up, blacktop and concrete. It sure has grown in recent years.

I have a couple of friends who are members of the sportsmans club.........Essex, right?

I agree about the rain, but at least most of the Saturdays and or Sunday's have been nice. I know I have fired up the smoker every weekend at least once for the past 5 or 6 weeks out where I live 70+ miles s/w of Chicago. It was also dry for my big bbq last weekend, although the ground was soggy, the 40+ people had a blast.

The grass is growing, but the ground is so saturated I can see the moisture on my John Deere's tires in certain parts of my property. Just wait until we get a week of hot sunny weather, the grass is going to grow like mad.

Shadow lakes is a nice place, a tad over crowded, but the fishing isn't bad. The kids and I have never been skunked there. Yes, the sportsman club is in essex, has the trap range across the road. I also store my camper on a farm just off of essex rd.

I have plans on a smoke on Sunday. I have this new Horizon and used it one time. Come hell or high water, most likely high water, I'm smoking on Sunday!!!

Its suppose to finally quit later tonight or early tomorrow morning.
river was just starting to go down again , now flood warnings and its on its way back up. we already had 2- 100 yr flood levels in the past 8 months ! sheesh. but.... I would rather Mow than shovel snow.

Man, I feel your pain. I have a rice paddy in the farthest 2/3 of my backyard. Barely able to cut the front. I know it beats an ice storm as we had the past two years, but........wow. My cats walking through the yard look like lions lurking in the grassy plains!

it rained in des moines all day and is still raining so that is probably gonna be at your house later, my drain tile has been pissing on the street for almost a month straight, gonna end up being another wet summer I suspect
