Picked up a just over 2 lb tri tip and a just under 2 lb Picanha. Both went in gallon ziplocks overnight with coarse Kosher salt, and a splash of Worcestershire. Next day rubbed them with SPOG, and on to the WK indirect using the SnS with about a 1/3 chimney of lit royal oak briquettes, half full water reservoir, some post oak, and cherry chunks for smoke. Took to 105-110 IT then seared both sides over coals, and returned to indirect until 132 IT, then foiled for 10 minutes, and sliced Had parents and GF over for dinner, drinks, and Tiger game. Served with baked potatoes, and Sandyuts grilled onion slices. Thanks Sandyut!!! On this night both my Mom and GF chose the tri tip, while my Dad and I chose the Picanha. All agreed the Tri tip had a bolder better beef flavor, but a little tougher chew than the Picanha which just melted in your mouth. Both excellent pieces of meat, can’t go wrong with either. Thanks for looking.

Looking good. And I love the pic of the dog laying there looking longingly at the grill. LOL!

Thank you. She was no help on the tiebreaker, loved them both, but son just came home from golfing and broke the tie. Chose the Tri Tip because of smokier flavor.

I'd say they both look delicious also! Whole meal looks really good! And the dog watching the kettle is priceless. We also love onions, did you put anything on onion slices besides just seasonings? We just wrap an onion in foil like potatoes and cook until still a little firm, not mushy. Then slice in half add butter and add Larry's

Thank you, just that olive oil, and the seasoning. Wow!!! Another good onion idea, gonna have to try that way too.

My sister thought we were nuts the first time we told her about it until she tried it! Usually put them on first so it's more of an appetizer and gone about as soon as you butter them

They both look great! In my house it was unanimous on the tritip over the picanha. the picanha always seemed tougher.

Had to google "picanha". Always seem to learn something new every time I check this forum. As a guy who butchers his own deer each year, that is interesting stuff. Thanks for the education, and the mouth-watering pics. Looks fantastic!

That's a fine looking piece of work from where I'm sitting, Like! Tri tip is always darned hard to beat when cooked up just right. RAY

Looks tasty, maybe you need to get a rotisserie for that kettle.
I’m planning on it, first I want that Santa Maria grill accessory that fits it. But I’m not paying $70 for shipping.
