Just got me masterbuilt MES 140s model MB20072618 for a grate deal, under $180 new.
I live near Topeka, Kansas USA. Work for the county government as a highway building "slave". I made the jump into smoking and i don't even own a grill!!

I did the "brake in" this morning and now got some turkey burgers on there smoking, maybe I'll like ground turkey this way. Best turkey is sliced off the bird.

I have not smoked turkey burgers, but since it's a lean meat with little fat, I'd maybe put a chunk of butter on it to melt in while cooking to keep it from drying out (or wrap them with bacon!... but that would degrade the healthiness of choosing turkey, I suppose.). Maybe filling the water tray is enough to keep it moist. Maybe a short smoke isn't enough to dry it out. Not sure. I melt butter on burgers after I flip them on a grill or in a pan. Although, the butter did not help when I once made the mistake of using preformed burgers...lol. The convenience of not forming a patty wasn't worth it!

Welcome from california, take some pics of you turkey burgers when done. We like pictures here.

Turkey burgers should be fine, just keep a close eye on the temps. You want to pull them at 165*.

Welcome to the site.

Welcome to SMF, Rookie! I've never tried turkey burgers on a smoker, but it looks intriguing. I'd probably throw health to the wind and mike in 20-30% ground pork for the fat to help bind the burger, but that's me. I hope your initial smoke turned out great!

well the the turkey burgers turned out good for being turkey... That had good smoke to them also did some mushrooms in butter and they where grate.

Thank for the welcomes to the form. Now time think of my next smoke, maybe the beef cheek thats in the freezer...

Did you use those pre-seasoned turkey patties? I forgot who makes them, they're pretty heavily seasoned so it may look like turkey, but it just reminded me of pepper and garlic.

I mixed in some minced garlic and crushed crackers as a binder then salt and pepper. Every thing way just eye ball to what seemed good to me. The meet came form a log.
