Hello folks. New to the forum but not new to smoking. I hand built my electric smoker and have been using it for hundreds of hours.

Today my question is about testing/reheating. I cooked two butts simultaneously starting yesterday at noon that finished this morning around 10 (I cook at 220ish...). I had foiled it at 150 and let it get to 198. I wrapped it in more foil and threw it in the hot cooler with towels. It is currently 1 PM and I’m at 165 degrees.

My question is:
Should I pull it and refrigerate now for the party at 6 PM or should I put it back in the oven whole at 150 covered until the party? I don’t think it will make it to the party in the cooler and stay above 150.

Do I have other options?

Thanks,

Cory

P.s.
Usually I would have this done about 2 hours before, but I overestimated the time needed for 20# of pork...

Also note: I have read other threads with similar issues, so I'll narrow my question.

Is it okay to let the meat go below 150 and then put it in a crock pot later to warm it? Or is it better to let it get completely cold and then warm it back up? Should I pull it or leave it whole?

Current internal temp: 160

I would either put it in a 170 degree oven wrapped up until the party, then pull it just before eating.
Or leave it in the cooler, it will stay hot for several hours. I would not pull it until you are ready to eat.
And don't forget the finishing sauce!
Al
