So when I tried to make little sausage links at home by layering them in a container with wax paper etc, it didn't work as planned. They stuck to the paper, didn't fit many in, etc, etc. Now I might have been able to do freeze them on a cookie sheet, but that also means trying to fit a whole cookie sheet into a crammed freezer. Well, thumbing through The Sausage Maker catalogue <the physical copy> I noticed on the back they sold a Sililcone mold for sausage that was oven safe <and of course freezer safe>. It was 1/2 pound of meat to 6 links. Roughly I think hot dog sized. A bit big for what I like. I like little sizzlers sized links.

Well I dug around and found some, though they are coming from China, but the measurements listed seem the right size for little sizzlers. <Though they'll be squareish, no big deal!>. Now it'll be a good while before I can report in on these <Since it could take till APRIL for them to arrive>.

As far as I can tell, it's 4 molds for an order. I sure hope so at any rate. Well here it is:

If it is 4, I can do 40 at a time. Which is perfect. I'd guess it would take maybe 2-3 pounds of meat to make 40 links. <Guesstimating, I'm bad at math> and would last a week. <Yah, half my diet is now home made breakfast meat I swear!!!>

Has any one else used ones like these?

I had to go look at it for myself. I've never noticed it when I got the catalog.
Sounds like it might work, although I prefer the snap ya get with sheep casings.

Let us know how it works out.

Took my first try to make breakfast sausage....used 21mm collagen casings....made a long rope, sit them to 4in sausages with my kitchen shears, frogs them on cookie sheets for about an hour then vacuum sealed them...worked great and am planning on doing more.

I don't even have small casings on hand, mostly just buy non edible ones for summer sausage to be fair. Despite owning a good stuffer I rarely bust it out.

But I will. I just thought it was worth spending a couple of bucks to see how they perform.

Ok you got me, I bought the Sausage Makers version. At first I thought it was a nice novelty, but I wouldn't use it. But after thinking about it I thought it would be a great way to do small test batches of recipes with out getting out the stuffer.
I'll let ya know how it works out.
The molds you ordered should work great for breakfast sausage, sounds like the rights size to me.

Yah, when you get your sausage maker ones, be sure to post a picture to give an idea of the size. I wasn't sure on that! I thought it sounded way more like hot dog sized links! I do like these silicone molds being often and freezer safe though.

They are smaller then they look in the ad. About 4.25" long and 20mm in diameter. I might try them out today so I'll either post here or start a new thread if it works out.

Ah, well let me know Dan. Still not quite sizzler size..but at least not bratwurst size right!?

I'll..get mine eventually. It's coming from China so!

I got the molds I ordered and formed some breakfast links with them.

I'll let people decide based on photos if it's what they'd want. What I ordered came with 4 molds, 1.5 pounds of sausage made 33 of these.
