The kettle has been assembled and it’s a beauty. I was going to do a chicken as my first cook but the chicken never made it out of the freezer. So I’m going to make up some thick and juicy burgers tomorrow. I am getting that chicken out to thaw though. I’m definitely cooking that before the weekend is over. I’ve also got a vortex and some delicious chicken wings are on the very near horizon. Between the kettle and the OKJ I plan on torturing my neighbors with cooks as often as possible. Take care all. I hope that it was a very Merry Christmas for you all.

Can't go wrong with that combo. Kettle + Vortex = full and happy tummy.

Enjoy

There is a reason why the kettle has been around for many, many years. The past couple of months I have used and smoked indirect far more than I have used my stick burner. I want a 22' WSM and hope to add one to the group in 2020. Happy New Year!!

I’ve got that chicken thawing for tomorrow so it’s not that far off. I’m going to try that air dry method in the fridge to see about a crispier skin. I don’t have any wings at the moment but I will pick some up next weekend at Sams. I’ll get some ribs for the smoker at the same time. We’ve got some great cooks coming up soon. I will definitely post some results soon.

So here is a shot of my first cook on my copper kettle. All American burgers and dogs. Gotta be one of the very best burgers I’ve ever grilled. Have a great evening.

Thanks chopsaw. I can’t even with how tasty this burger was. Super excited about that whole chicken that I’m doing tomorrow. I’m going to try a new rub from Weber called Asian garlic on it. I’ll post some pics tomorrow.
