quick question - brush mustard on brisket before rub?

What was the verdict I am about to rub my shoulder before napping a few hours and getting it on the smoker.
 
you can use mustard if you choose, ron - definitely will work and help the rub develop a nice bark. the "mustardy" flavor goes away.

you can also use just about anything else that strikes your fancy - some suggestions were louisiana hot sauce and extra virgin olive oil

i went with mustard as i am familiar with it from my work with pork BBQ -

evoo works every time for me. Not only holds the rub on but does promote a nice bark even with my sugarless rub.
