I am curious as to the size I should make the connector tube from the firebox to the cooking chamber.

My cooking chamber has 3.5sqft of cooking surface and a volume of 7cuft.

Will 8X4 be ok?. Is it possible to go to big or is there maybe a smaller optimal size.

Hey Gene, I think that the tube should be big. The flow will come from the size of your intake and exhust. The tube on my home made stick burner, from the fire box to the cooker is 10in wide X 6in long. The cook chamber is about 3X5ft. Hope this helps.

On mine, I used a 55-gallon drum for the smoker. I used (2) 3" diameter x4" long pipes to join my firebox to the drum. I used a 4" diameter exhaust pipe.
