I am going to smoke some thighs this weekend and was wondering if any of y'all spray or baste with apple juice during the smoke? I am planning on smoking at 300-325 for 1-1/2 to 2 hours or until done. I was thinking about hitting them with an apple juice spray at around hour 1 and then after another 30 minutes until done. I plan on getting some butter and rub up under the skin prior to putting them in, I was just curious if anyone bastes their thighs during the process.

Mike, morning.....  I haven't basted chicken during the smoking process....  Since you haven't had many replies, maybe others haven't also...  So now you are in the valued position of a "new" technique you can report on for other members to learn from......   Go for it and take pictures and give a taste review....   Dave

@SQWIB Yeah, kinda what I figured, I just was looking to see if anyone else out there was doing something different. i'm still VERY new to the smoking thing and am looking at all kinds of ideas and suggestions. I'm just looking to have some fun and make some great food.

@Dave I might try it just so I can experiment. And..... thighs are on sale at my local store this week for $1.00 a pound...can't go wrong there.

Baste if you'd like It sure can't hurt and one of the best things about smoking is playing with your food. So have fun with it.
