Pulled the trigger on a pellet grill

I've been considering adding one for awhile now for quicker evening cooks and just the convenience at times. Still love my charcoal cabinet and Lang but sometimes I just want to turn a knob and roll! I looked hard at both Recteq and Weber. Based on a local used deal I went Weber. I got a 2nd Gen Weber Smokefire EX6 in super clean condition for $350. It had the auger and motor replaced 2 years ago and the main flavorizer bar last year. He also included a fair amount of new replacement parts he had warranties when he did the auger. I think he was just future proofing. Got a new extra controller, diffuser, glow plugs and fuses. I'll fire it up sometime next week. Thanks to @chopsaw for a lot of good feedback on these

You know from Talking I was concerned about why he had all the parts . Could be Weber threw a bunch of stuff in when he did the auger .
New out of the box , the wheels for my EX4 were threaded wrong . I called them , and he said it was a known problem , and a new set was on the way .
Then he said " What else you need " ? I'm like nothing that's it .
The wheels show up , and in the box was 4 igniters . A new temp control probe , 2 of the therms , 2 wiring harness and 2 holders for the igniter .
So maybe the same happened with him .
I had ordered a set of wheels before I talked to Weber , because I had saw guys on the Weber forum using an upgrade .
5 " easy roll wheel with a dual locking caster . No roll , no swival when locked .
Not cheap , but they're nice .
Also added the front shelf . The handel is close to the shelf when the lid is closed , but a great addition for adding and removing stuff from the grill .
It also has hooks on the shelf to hang the upper rack .
It also folds down .

Get yourself a broiler pan from a house oven . The low profile fits under the lower rack ,
on top of the flavor bars . Keeps all the grate space open .
You can see it under the chicken here .

You have to use a drip pan on long , or greasy higher temp cooks . Just like you would anything else .
I will grill sausages , burgers and chicken parts without it , just keep it clean .
The open design of these is a strong point for the smoke profile .
Get some B&B championship blend pellets .

I plan on adding the front shelf at some point once I get used to the cooker. I also plan on ordering a spare thermo couple and wiring harness. The wires up above the pellet empty slide seem brittle, they were hanging down some too. I tucked them back in the metal channel. Looked like sliding that open would snag and pull them. Changing the thermocouple looks like a real pain if I need to ever. Ordered a cover for it on Amazon as well. I may decide to keep it outside on my back patio so I am cooking there with company when hosting. He said he did some extra complaining to get extra parts. I doubt at this point I can get any lol. There is a guy about 40 minutes from me that has a new in the box full cooker barrel replacement for it. I think I could get for $50 but this one's in super good shape so may not.

Get a pic when you can . Inside or outside the hopper ? I'm not aware of any showing , unless they're tucked up underneath .

Get the real deal Weber part . All kinds of after market ones , don't use those .

Changing the thermocouple looks like a real pain if I need to ever.

It is . The hopper has to come off .

NICE. I think you will end up liking it more than you think. That said, it IS a pellet grill so keep and eye on it and clean it well now and then.
