Grew up around my mom and grandmother using them. Only know of one blow up by my mom and it was her fault, no injuries. The big use was for cooking that I remember was meat. We killed a beef every year and roasts of all varieties was floured, browned and the a little water added lid went on then the weight "jiggler" and the time to cook the meat was greatly reduced. Now I use the insta pot for the same purpose. A chuckie is pull apart ready in an hour or less and no "jiggler" to get right.
Buy an instant Pot. We have both the 6qt and 8qt. You can cook things very quickly in them. As an examples roasts will cook to fork tender 15 min. per lb. we do soups, stews, many meat dishes. It’s an indispensable it m in our home and makes pressure cooking a simple digital task.
