I'm a long-time hack of a meat smoker, and new to this forum.  I'm stumbling my way through joining 2 ECB (scabbing them together, one on to of the other) to copy the PBC model.  The "barrels" of 2 joined ECB's nearly equal the height of the PCB, and the rest of the measurements approximate 85% of the PBC.  I not sure the best solution for the base and coal basket.  Suggestions are much appreciated!

Was gonna say, the Barens bushel size tub is just a hair larger diameter than the Brinkmann. You have to work at fitting it straight on top. Once you fit the 2 pieces , you can scribe a mark under where the bottom lip of the Brinkmann is on the inside of the tub.. a and put a gasket there inside the tub where the 2 meet. I did not use a gasket. It's not air tight but good enough when the body is pushed down into the tub.

To remove the Brinkmann I place a foot on one leg of the base and lift up on the handles . It pops off ok.

You are a true source of inspiration.  I found a Weber Little Joe today and am ordering the Behrens can tomorrow.  Thanks for your insight and willingness to share.  I will try to take pictures of the build and my inaugural cook(s).

I'm thinking about trying to find some sort of flat lid (i.e. barrel or stock pot), or taking an 18.5" Weber Kettle lid and cutting it down to fit.  Any additional insights will be much appreciated!

And I should've asked earlier -- can you think of any resons this is a BAD idea?

Tha ks!

Some people have bought old Brinkmann's and use the lid off of it as the new bottom for their ECB. Put legs in the lid and add vents to it.. replace the handle on the bottom ECB with just some bolts and nuts.. RTV sealant. Make a rope gasket in bottom like top lid rope gasket..
