Need to find some motivation.  Got all the parts i need just need to get my ass in gear to get this thing smoking............

build looks great!  I noticed you used a finned strip heater and it looks like you had a test run.  What watt is it and what kind of heat can you maintain.

Cheers,

Pops

The finned heater is a 1250w.  When i got it i just did a quick bench run to make sure it was working and to burn off the oils on the heater!  I jerry-rigged it to a broken extension cord and plugged it in.  I went across the shop to grab a infrared thermometer and by the time i got back, the heater was already at 400degrees and after a about another minute it was well over 700 than i unplugged it!  I was very surprised how fast this thing took off!

So my wife decided to invite a few of our friends and her in laws over for supper tomorrow night because i might have my new smoker seasoned by than.  "I MIGHT" is the key words!  Just in case that does happen i decided to put a few chickens in some brine overnight for some beer butt chickens.

Brine:

1 1/2 gallon water

1 cup salt

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp ginger

1 tsp minced garlic

1 TBSP Spicy n Black Pepper

I have never done this before so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Buy an A-MAZE-N Pellet smoker for your smoke generator. You could build a box for it to fit

in that space under the smoking chamber and have it feed up into the smoking chamber.

You will be much happier with the taste of the smoke...not to mention it will be SOOOOO much easier

than using that style of generator.

By the way ...smoker looks awesome!!! Love the clear door to the controller box!

That is a beautiful piece of work.  Good luck with your chicken.  one thing to get is a good probe thermometer.  It takes the guesswork out of your cook.
