In reading Amazing Rib's review of the MAK 2 Star General Meathead notes "One great upgrade with the latest model 2-Star is that the built-in temperature probe is no longer fixed to a mount in the corner away from the food. You can now place the cooker temperature probe anywhere you want in the interior, right next to the meat, ideally. "

I value this feature, but it seems few pellet grills offer this.

To be clear, I am looking for a movable pit temp probe that the thermostatic control unit bases the set temp off of (as opposed to movable food probes which are readily available).

Any suggestions of other grills that do this? Guidance greatly appreciated.

I can tell you on my Rec Tec 590 I have checked several places in the grill with my inkbird 4 probe and they where all within a couple degrees. Can speak for other smokers but mine is good where it is. Now that would be a great idea for the MES40 as it is all over the place!

same, not sure I would mess with moving the temp probe around. I like simple and easy. Thus the Rec Tec RT700. Mac are very nice, but even if I could the probe would likely sit in the same place it came for decades.
