Granddaughter got me a off branded 1 for Christmas, whenever I use it enough to decide to get a good 1 they won’t ever go back on sale, ps this 1 is sharp, pinky slipped cut the tip off 🤬 I pay attention when I use it now, also bought a cut proof glove 🤣

great mandolin.
My Son hasn't warmed up to the one I got him for Christmas . He has some nice knives and decent skills .
I finally told him I was gonna try it out . It's nice . I used it the other day to cut thin waffle chips . Soaked for 4 hours , changing the water a few times . Drained and spun in the salad spinner , and used the Ninja air fryer to cook 'em . They were really good .

It's a great tool to have , but no matter how careful you are , you will cut yourself at some point .
I need to get some gloves . Came close the other day .

Hehe. I've very careful of my knives but I got one that.......I just forgot.

Luckily it just cut the nail (the part that just extends past the flesh). Had to use a bandaid, not because I caught the tip but because I couldn't clean it up close enough without cutting into "the quick".

Good knife though :emoji_fearful::emoji_thumbsup:

Nice find Norm.
Mandolins: So Handy, So adept at removing fingertips.
..
No fingertips so far. Took off a knuckle cap years ago slicing a carrot. They just don't fit in the clumsy safety holder.

Lets talk food processors. Years ago a friend took off a fingertip because the pusher didn't get the that last piece of cabbage shredded. Boyfriend said it best "ruined the coleslaw". expletive substituted

Hopefully alcohol was involved, 'cause it's a really stupid thing to do, shoving your fingers near a rotating plate in a food processor.

Both my wife and I value our fingers. We really only use ours a few times a year but we always use the guard when it will hold what we're slicing and always cut proof gloves.

I have one I bought at Sam's many years ago and about the only thing I use it for is to slice up potatoes for wing chips. I always cut the potato in half to get a flat surface to start with and I always use the guard.

I used this one last week for some Blackstone sliders . Made quick work of 2 whole onions .
Clean up is about the same really .

Just ordered a few new sets of the NoCry gloves, the old ones were looking pretty beat.

My chainmail ones are really only good for fileting fish. They've been mia for a lot of years now and I really haven't kept much fish the past few years anyway so I really can live without them. Those were truly cut proof though.
