Not really. I think you can put anything you want in the can or the water pan and you will see little enhancement to finished flavor of the meat. Scooter's posted article is spot on. Even when I first heard of Beer Can chicken, I always question why the can of liquid, whatever used, seem to maintain the same amount of weight. Some guys said it was fat that dripped back into the can. I just didn't buy that.Thank you for the article, Scooter, very helpful. I've never given much thought to alot of the science of all that. Makes perfectly good sense. I wonder if putting beer in the water pan will give it any different flavor or just waste a good beer. Part of the fun will be figuring that out!

Just wondered, I have heard of people putting apple juice in the water pan etc. I've not messed with it enough yet to know if that will affect the flavor or not.
