Just a small note about painting the firebox.

I tried every High Temp paint I could Find...and always wound up repainting at some point.

One night over a few beers at a competition I was complaining about it and the guy next to me suggested I treat it the same as I treat my cast iron.

So I scrubbed off the surface rust, fired it up and slathered it in oil.

I just put a lil oil on it every time I cook and it is as black as can be...most can't even tell it's not painted.

Just my .02

Good Luck
